Our purpose

The creation of FOREST SANCTUARIES

The association Beyond Roots is mobilizing to create in France an ecological burial method in the forest under the name of Forest Sanctuary. For us citizens, forest trees are one of the solutions with a mitigation benefit in the face of the planetary problems that threaten us and we do not let them "age"... in parallel: the societal response, faced with the possibilities of burials, does not respond not up to our expectations...

 

We act in favor of our environment, the climate and biodiversity by preserving the ecosystems of natural forests and by allowing the selected trees to become secular, so that these forests have a positive influence on the future of future generations.

Thus we take an active part for the future of the planet by perpetuating the family and collective memory

and thus offering a framework of natural and pleasant meditation where the symbolism of the trees

connects us to nature and our beliefs.

And a little more about our actions

Make known the concept of sanctuary forest, unique in France, to our elected officials and our fellow citizens,

through a clear presentation of the model and of all the ecosystem goods and services that the forest offers us in a universal and borderless way.

​

Create partnerships with municipalities to create together, forests for burial purposes.

​

Allow citizens to act in favor of the planet today and for a long time, through their graves.

Initiate a socio-ecological evolution in funeral traditions.

​

Find an innovative and sustainable business model

Act in favor of the environment and biodiversity.

Our credo

To be useful for my planet today and for Eternity

Act on 3 societal issues:

  • The environment through the Forest

  • The human through the grave

  • Society through citizens and their municipalities

We act for the respect of the living while preserving the future of our graves within the community and the enhancement of our habits and our landscapes. ​

​

It is a question of promoting in our society a mode of burial that is sustainable and respectful of the environment in a philosophy of "dying well".

Our goals

  • Preserve the trees of our forests by letting them live and age, for the benefit of our future generations.

  • Allow the forest to regain a share of naturalness conducive to maintaining an optimal ecosystem and biodiversity.

  • Offer a more ecological mode of burial, and a place of intergenerational memory in a natural setting conducive to meditation.

  • Engage, we citizens, in the societal and environmental transition.

EACH OF US AND ALL TOGETHER, WE CAN GIVE MEANING TO LIFE TAKING ACTION RIGHT NOW STILL ACT AFTER HIS DEATH FOR THE FUTURE OF THE PLANET. !
